Consumer Reports

Follow these steps to access Consumer Reports:

  • Start at
  • Click on Research
  • Click on Consumer from the list of research guides
  • Click on Consumer Reports
  • Enter your Library Card number and PIN when prompted

Please note: you must start from the Library's website to gain access to Consumer Reports. If you begin at the Consumer Reports website, you will not be able to access the material without encountering a request for payment. PPLD has access to the Consumer Reports magazine, but not the contents of the Consumer Reports website.


Once you log in with your Library Card Number and PIN, you will see a screen like the above.

  • You can click on "search within this publication" to enter search terms and get results for those terms
  • Or you can click the year under "all issues" to see all issues for that year

When you click on "search within this publication" you will see the above search box

  • Click in the search bar
  • Hit the space bar
  • Type the word "and"
  • Hit the space bar again
  • Type in your search terms
  • Then hit the "search" button


Once you perform a search, you will see results displayed like the above picture:

  • Click on the title of the article to get more information about it
  • Click on the HTML or PDF Full Text to see the article in its entirety

If you receive too many search results, use the limiters on the left hand side to narrow your results list :

  • Limit to full text to receive only article that are full text
  • Adjust the date slider to receive only the newest (or oldest) results
