Hoopla

 Hoopla provides access to borrow free digital video, music, books, and comics with your library card. Gain access to thousands of titles – available for instant streaming or temporarily download – and watch or read on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Note: Nooks, non-Fire Kindles, some iPods, and dedicated e-readers are not compatible with this service. 

What do I need to use Hoopla?

  • A Pikes Peak Library District resident library card number (resident card numbers start with a 4) and PIN.
  • An email address.
  • A compatible mobile device with wireless Internet access to use the app.
  • A personal computer or laptop with Internet access to use the website. 

Registration and Account Set-Up Instructions

To register for a hoopla account online with your personal computer or laptop or to download the app to your mobile phone or tablet, view the video below and follow the steps provided to register for a new account. Device specific step-by-step instructions available here

Register for a new Hoopla account on the web from your personal computer. Have your PPLD library card and 4-digit pin ready. 

Setting up Hoopla

  • Visit the hoopla website and click on "Get Started Today"
  • Enter and confirm your email address and create a password. Click on "Agree."
  • Choose your library - Pikes Peak Library District - and click "Next"
  • Enter your library card number and 4-digit pin. Click "Sign Me Up"

Learn to use the hoopla website on your personal computer so you can browse, search, borrow, and access content. 

Note: On PCs and Macs, Hoopla utilizes a web browser (e.g. IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari) to access content, so there is no need to install anything.

 Get started with Hoopla on your Android device. Learn to download and install the app, browse, search, borrow, and play content.

Setting up Hoopla

  • Visit your device's app store and search for "hoopla."
  • Tap Install or Get and then open the hoopla app.
  • Click Sign Up, and it will prompt you for access to your location services - agreement is optional.
  • If you have location services and allow Hoopla to use it, it will attempt to find the closest library; otherwise manually search for Pikes Peak Library District.
  • On the next screen, enter an email address for a username, create a password, enter your library card number and PIN, then tap Sign Up to complete the process.
