Kanopy

Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema with collections from Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers.

You can borrow up to 10 items per month, and items will checked out for 3 days.

What do I need to use the Kanopy app?

  • A Pikes Peak Library District resident library card number (resident card numbers start with a 4) and PIN.
  • An email address.
  • A device with wireless Internet access.

Setting up an Account:

  • Visit your device's app store and search for "Kanopy"
  • Tap Install or Get and then open the Kanopy app
  • Tap "Get Started" (iOS) or "Sign Up" (Android)
  • Add your library by turning on your device's location feature OR search manually for "Pikes Peak Library District"
  • Select the library
  • Enter the library card and 4-digit pin number
  • Complete sign up with your email address and create a password
  • Check your email for a verification message from Kanopy. Click the link to verify the email address.

Kanopy's Mobile & TV Apps Help has categorized help and troubleshooting by device. 

Mobile Apps include iOS devices, Android devices, and Amazon Fire tablets. 

TV Apps include Apple TV & Airplay, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Samsung Smart TV, Roku, Telstra TV, and Chromecast.

To access and stream movies from Kanopy online, go to the Kanopy website. If it's your first time using the site, register your library card number by clicking "Add Library Card" and adding your library card number and four-digit pin. As you return to the site, log in with the email address you used and the password you created. Once logged in, you can access borrowed content, browse the Kanopy catalog, and change your account settings. There is no need to install anything. Note you cannot download content for offline access - everything is streamed.
