Laser Engraving & Cutting

NOTE: This guide is not a substitution for badging. You must attend a badging class or complete the online training before using the lasers. See the Badging tab for more information.

Using the laser can be broken into four parts:

1. Setting up the machine and material
2. Setting up your file in the design software
   • Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator are available at all locations.
   • Inkscape is also free to download at home.
3. Determining which settings to use
4. Running the machine

The lasers at East, Library 21c, and Sand Creek differ slightly in the settings they use and how they are set up. Additionally, while you will get the same results regardless of which design software you use, the programs operate in significantly different ways. Please make sure to read the appropriate sections for the machine and software that you are using.
