Yappy Hour 2:00

Yappy Hour will be an opportunity for staff to be active, walk around, visit tables, lightening rounds, play in our "Sand Box," meet with colleagues, and reflect on the day’s learning experiences. More information to come!

Lightening Rounds

This summer, PPLD received two grants for the Inclusive Internship Initiative. We were fortunate enough to be chosen as mentors for the three teen interns that were hired for the summer. We want to share our experience and knowledge gained from this interesting and eye opening grant!

This presentation will explain the value of automating the patron side of the collection. It will detail the progressive use of automation devices in the collection to find errant books. It will also show the improved presentation of the collection, the simplification of the shelf reading process, the financial benefit to the library, and the improved service to the patron.

The Pikes Peak Library District in Partnership with Urban Peak of Colorado Springs brought the National Safe Place network to Colorado in December of 2017.  This presentation will give you an overview of what Urban Peak of Colorado Springs does, and what the National Safe Place network is as well as what work went behind bringing the National Safe Place network to Colorado.  We will also be able to answer any questions that may have come up after the sites have opened.

Science is all around us and learning doesn't stop with school.  Learn how to start the Science Stop program at your location with just a few minutes of prep, a few dollars in supplies, and a few minutes to present, you too can bring simple science experiments to your branch to ignite curiosity in your patrons of all ages!

Need to move around? Stop in the Storytime room and practice some Qi Gong. Qi Gong is a set of flowing stretches and movements that increases vitality and brings the body to a place of inner balance.

Discover Studio 21C

Drop by the Studio and find out what really goes on in there.  Get an informal hands on experience using the cameras, lights, green screen, teleprompter, isolation booth and audio equipment– all the tools you’ll need to produce an album, become the latest internet sensation or create your own independent film. 

Studio staff will be there to show you how everything works, what equipment and software is available at 21C and to answer any philosophical questions you may have.
