There are no restrictions on who can create a podcast, which topics they can cover, the duration of episodes or how often episodes are produced. 

The podcast medium has increased in popularity over the past decade.

Podcasts are stored on hosting websites such as Podbean, Blubrry or Libsyn, which make them available for the home user to listen via a podcast app.

Smartphones and tablets typically have a native podcast consumption app, such as Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts.
