3D Printing at Pikes Peak Library District

Pikes Peak Library District's makerspaces provide the community with access to 3D printing technology through an easy Badging process and low cost printing.

  • Prusa MK4 3D printers are available to use in the makerspaces at East Library, Library 21c, and Sand Creek Library.

Access to our makerspaces occurs during location-specific Open Hours, which are designated times the rooms are open for patrons to come in and use the machines. Staff is present to check out machines, answer questions, and assist patrons. Visit the General Information tab for more information on using the printers through reservations or as a walk-in.

Using the 3D printers in our spaces requires a "badge." Becoming badged is easy: you watch a 20 minute video, take a short quiz, and then notify a staff member the next time you come to the library to use the makerspace. The staff member will verify that you passed the quiz and update your account with the badging. Visit the Badging tab to get started.

Highlight - Free Materials in the Makerspace

PPLD is excited to announce that patrons will be able to use a certain number of supplies for free when they visit a library makerspace. Whether you want to engrave a family photo on the laser cutter, 3D print a replacement part for your vacuum cleaner, or just learn how to use an embroidery machine, there will be materials available for you to use to test out your designs and explore the space.

In every session, you will have access to:

  • $1 worth (20 grams) of 3D printing.*

  • 1 piece of wood for the laser cutter (6” x 12” x 1/8").

  • 10 buttons for the button maker.

  • 1 piece of wood for the CNC (5" x 7" x 1/4").

  • 2 sheets of embroidery backing for the embroidery machine.

  • 1 sheet of vinyl for the Silhouette Cameo or Curio die cutters.

*This amount is calculated from the standard $0.05 per gram rate for printing. Anything over that amount will be charged at the usual $0.05 per gram rate.
