LibGuides 2.0 Toolkit

LibGuides are a content management and publishing system used to curate knowledge and share information with our community. By creating Guides on any topic or subject, we are helping patrons gain access to library resources and needed information.

Key Terms

Published means that the guide is indexed on our website and accessible to everyone.

Unpublished means that the guide is not indexed and only viewable by owners, editors, and administrators when logged into LibGuides.

Private means that the guide is not indexed, and it is only visible by the guide URL.

Keep It Fresh

Review your guides on a regular basis - either monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

Are your guides still relevant? Have resources or information changed? Does your guide focus on an event that has passed?

Do you need to hide or delete outdated content? Do you have any broken links? (use Link Checker)

Could you add fresh content?

Publishing Your Guide

Step 1. Before publishing your guide, make sure to preview it by clicking on the 

Step 2. Click on Unpublished, then select Change Status & Share.

Step 3. Change the Publication Status to Published, then save.

 

Publishing Checklist

LibGuides Account.

Does your profile box have a photo and include your contact information (address, email, phone number)?

Is your profile box available on the main page of your guide?

Is your profile box located on the left side of the page?

Creating a Guide.

Has your guide(s) been assigned a subject and/or tags?

Are the links active?

Are there any typographical or grammatical errors?

Adding Content.

Have you reused pages, boxes, and assets when possible?

Have you used the A-Z Database list to link to databases?

Have you included websites and/or books from the catalog?

Have you included short descriptions under your sources?

Maintaining Guide

Remember to save your changes. You can change the status, title, description, as well as add content to your guide even after it has been published. 

Add/Make Changes. If you would like to add content or make changes to your boxes, click on    or 

Link Checker. Under the Tools tab, you can click on Link Checker in order to generate a list of broken links.
