Jewelry making can take many forms and utilize a variety of materials. One easy way to get started in jewelry making is by beading. Beading simply entails threading or stringing beads and charms onto a piece of thread, wire, cord, or elastic.

Some basic tools you will need to get started in beading are:

  • Jewelry pliers
  • Wire cutters
  • A jewelry mat or piece of felt
  • Jump rings, clasps, and / or crimp beads to connect and secure everything together
  • Beading wire
  • Beads
  • Reading glasses or a magnifying glass for working with small items
  • A ruler or measuring tape
