Volunteers could participate in the following ways. Teach financial literacy to high school students, college students, read with students in an afterschool setting, engineers judge a science fair, volunteer to sit on a career panel, and/or community members share a hobby or talents with students.

CityServe Day - An event that happens twice a year where the community is invited to volunteer at over 100 project sites. Serving at schools, parks, and nonprofits, this is an event that offers opportunities to serve with no strings attached.
Backpack Bash - The Backpack Bash is an annual collaborative effort involving more than 70 local churches, businesses, nonprofits, and school and government partners to support thousands of families across El Paso County. Every student receives a free backpack with new school supplies*, and families get to interact with all kinds of organizations built to support them year-round. With 7 locations across the Pikes Peak region, families are only a short drive from a one-stop-shop to get access to everything they need for a great school year.

At Early Connections, we greatly value our volunteers and enjoy having both volunteer groups and individuals in our classrooms and centers!

Minimum Age Requirement: 17 for individuals, 12+ if volunteering with a group and a parent is present.

We have three different opportunities to volunteer as an individual at Early Connections: 1. Classroom Support Assistant - A volunteer who works directly in the classroom one-on-one with children. 2. Classroom Enrichment Assistant - A volunteer who works to support the overall well-being of a classroom but will likely not work one-on-one with children. 3. Administrative Support Assistant - A volunteer who will work solely to support the administrative functions of the organization and will not work in classrooms or one-on-one with children

We have many different groups that come and do a variety of volunteer projects. Projects range from working one-on-one with children in the classrooms, to helping with indoor and outdoor beautification projects, to assisting teachers with everyday tasks that keep their classrooms functioning.

You can assist us in this mission by providing transportation, meals, homework help, Day Center hosting, sharing your skills (homework help, career readiness, technology, administrative), and assisting with events.

Volunteers could participate in the following ways.
Programs Volunteers join young people at the IOYS community center to provide intergenerational connection, a listening ear, and assist in the facilitation of programs.

Outreach Volunteers assist the outreach department in spreading the word by hosting a table at community events where folks can learn about our work, ask questions, and sign up to join our community.

Digital Volunteers join the virtual community center on a secure Discord Server. Here, they talk with young folks, guide them toward appropriate resources, and facilitate digital programming. This position can be fully remote.

Fundraising Volunteers make thank-you phone calls to major donors, write thank-you cards, assist in data entry and collection, and participate in fundraising phone drives to connect with past donors.

Volunteers could participate in the following ways.
Donation Acceptance: Be a friendly face and help donors unload their bags or boxes of donations!
Furniture Delivery: You’ll pick up and deliver furniture so the families in our program have a bed to sleep on, a kitchen table to eat at, and all the things that make a house a home.
Childcare Enrichment Center: Hang out and have fun with the kiddos in our program while their parents are on-site attending self-sufficiency classes and appointments!
Donation Sorting & Tidying: Come sort the donations we receive, tidy up our shopping space, and occasionally provide support for the families using our free Donation Center!
We have many different groups that come and do a variety of volunteer projects. Projects range from landscaping and painting the interior of units after families have moved forward with our program to coordinating drives in our community.

Our food distribution and family dinners are a few examples of the direct volunteer opportunities we have at Pikes Peak United Way. We also have partner agencies that we can direct individuals to if their mission directly aligns with what a volunteer is looking for.
Most opportunities are for ages 14+ but may occasionally include children younger than 14 with a guardian present.

Volunteers could participate in the following ways.
Distribution Assistant: This role helps with sorting and organizing client meal bags in preparation for deliveries. Accuracy is important and this does involve a lot of moving/lifting. This is available to ages 13+ with a parent/guardian and 16+ without an adult. Scheduling is flexible and most volunteers commit to 1 to 2 weekends per month.

Meal Delivery Driver: Our delivery area covers a significant portion of Colorado Springs and the routes are created in an efficient manner so that deliveries occur in close proximities. The meals are medically tailored for each client, so we stress the importance of getting the right meals to the right individual.

Bag Decorating: Decorating bags is definitely a simple, yet impactful opportunity to give back to the community. It’s an ideal opportunity for all ages and abilities! Project Angel Heart supplies the bags and can accommodate any number needed. Once decorated, the bags are used to deliver our meals to food recipients.

Family Support Volunteers are the welcoming face of Safe Passage for children, caregivers, and professionals. They assist staff in providing a child-friendly, private, comfortable, and supportive environment for child victims. Duties include age appropriate and companionable playroom supervision and spending time with adolescent and teenage children. Duties will also include a variety of tasks related to our administrative functioning.

We do ask that our volunteers commit to at least 1 shift of 4-5 hours per week over a period of 6 months, which take place during normal working hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. As an organization that works with children, we also ask that our volunteers provide 3 personal references and undergo our standard background check.

Minimum age is 18.

Volunteers could participate in the following ways.
Administrative Support: Provide filing, data entry, phone support and special project assistance.
Children’s Program: Educate and facilitate art and recreational activities with children living with, or coming from homes with, domestic violence and abuse.
Confidential Victim Advocacy: Assist clients with the Temporary Protection Order process, court support, safety planning, information/referral services, and hospital response.
Safe Line: Provide telephone crisis intervention, information and referral services on our safe line.
Development: Assist with special events and projects, administrative support, data entry, and fundraisers.
Safehouse: Provide case management and client services for female victims and their children residing in the Safehouse.

Minimum age requirement is 18 for client-facing positions and
16 for Development and Administrative.
