This guide is intended as a starting place for finding information on El Paso County and Colorado State Agencies. All categories are arranged in alphabetical order. Use the tabs on the left to locate frequently recommended resources.
Keyword Searches.
This type of search looks for one or more terms located anywhere in a database or website. They are a good substitute for a subject search when you do not know the name of the agency or type of service you seek. You can conduct keyword searches in PPLD's LibGuides.
Subject Searches.
This type of search is similar to a keyword search when looking for agencies. Consider potential subjects or descriptors that may be associated with the service(s) that you seek or the name of the known agency.
Agency Searches.
Identify the agency responsible for publishing the information you want. For example - if you wanted a crop report, then you could go to the USDA website to find that data.
Statistical Search.
In a statistical search, describe in detail what data you need. Determine if you are seeking specific data that includes age, race, gender, location, or date(s).
