The Silhouette Curio a DIY machine that uses a variety of small tools to electronically add designs to materials. The Curio is linked to the Silhouette software, which allows you to design and create from scratch or by using existing images. It is similar to the Silhouette Cameo 3, also available in PPLD makerspaces, but is smaller and has some extra functionality: it can etch, engrave, emboss, and stipple a variety of materials including paper and metal. The Curio can also hold and cut thicker materials than the Cameo 3.
PPLD has a PixScan mat that goes with the Curio, which allows users to cut around any printed or drawn image using a camera or scanner. This tool offers the ability to draw your designs by hand before cutting them out with the Curio.
