About This Kit

Bee-Bot is a fun and friendly robot designed to be sturdy and easy to operate for young children and beginners of all ages. Children’s as young as four can earn sequencing, estimation, and problem-solving while having fun putting Bee-Bot through its paces! Use the directional keys to enter a sequence of commands directing Bee-Bot to move forward or back or to turn left or right. A handy beep and blink after each command makes it easy to follow Bee-Bot’s progress through the entire program sequence.

This kit includes three Bee-Bots so the entire family can have fun together. It contains three USB charging cords and a USB wall outlet adapter for easy charging. The entire set is secured in a plastic bin and comes in an easy-to-carry tote bag. Use the Command Cards for a screen-free coding lesson. Use the cards to plan a course for Bee-Bot, enter the commands into the robot, and see where it goes. If Bee-Bot does something unexpected, check the Command Cards to identify any mistakes and try again.

Recommended for ages 4+

Learning Outcomes

After playing and experimenting with Bee-Bot, users will be able to do the following:

  • Sequence simple steps to move Bee-Bot in the desired direction
  • Use basic programming principles by plotting and executing a desired course of action for Bee-Bot

Getting Started

Programming Your Bee-Bot
Bee-Bot has been designed as a simple floor robot.

  • After initial switch-on, the sequence memory is cleared by pressing <Go>. At this point will simply cause a sound to be played and no motion to occur. The off/on switch is found on the underside of the robot.
  • The user can press a sequence of commands, which are stored in the sequence memory. A maximum of 40 commands can be stored; each command being either one forward/backward movement, left/right turn, or a pause.
    • Each forward or backward command causes the unit to move approx.150mm in the required direction.
    • Each turn command causes the unit to rotate 90 degrees.
    • A pause command causes the unit to pause for 1 second.
    • When the <Go> button is pressed, the unit will execute all the commands stored in order with a short pause between each command.
    • When the command sequence completes, the unit will stop and play a sound. (The sound can be turned on/off using the switch on the underside).
  • Pressing <Go > whilst a sequence is running will stop the sequence.

Caution: Although Bee-Bot is designed to be durable, please use only on the floor as falling from a raised surface could damage the robot. Please handle the backpack with care during transport.
