Discovery Kit Guides

Round looms are a fast, easy way to learn how to knit. Create hats, scarves, and more using this kit, which contains 4 round looms, a looming tool, and a plastic needle. A pamphlet with instructions for knitting a hat is included, along with information on where to find other loom knitting guides and projects.

*Yarn is not included in this kit. 

Discovery Kits can be reserved in the catalog for pickup at any PPLD location. They check out for seven days but can be renewed as long as there are no holds.

Due to the size of the kits, all Discovery Kits must be returned to library staff at the main desk during regular business hours. Please do not return this item to a book drop.

After completing the sample project in this kit, patrons will be able to:

• List the supplies needed for loom knitting.
• Cast on to a round loom.
• Perform basic stitches while knitting in the round.
• Remove a project from a round loom.

· First—find the project or tutorial you want to start with. Instructions for a simple hat are provided, but you may wish to choose another project or tutorial from the resources provided.

· Lay the kit out on a flat surface.

· Familiarize yourself with the parts.

· You will need to provide the yarn for the project you choose to complete. Once you have yarn, go through one of the tutorials or test out one of the projects!
