GarageBand is available for free on all iPhone and iPad devices. The layout has been condensed to work on a smaller screen, and additional features have been added.
Two mobile features not accessible on the iMac are:
Touch Instruments: Full screen representations of various software instruments that are playable by tapping on the screen while recording. The user selects the instrument, and then can tap in single notes or chords in real time which is recorded as a MIDI region in the arranger.
Step Sequencer: Create a beat by selecting boxes on the grid. Each row represents a different rhythmic drum or instrument. From left to right, the sequencer reads the selected boxes to create a short beat.
